Dog food brand

Carniwel dog food in India

Carniwel is two years old and belongs to a company that has made fish and shrimp feed since 1994. It is one of two brands in this research that makes its own food, and its pack and its own LinkedIn page name two different villages as the factory. This page records the company, that discrepancy, the only AAFCO claim in this research and what it does not say, the vegetarian range, and a 48 percent price spread on one 1 kg bag.

Quick answer

Carniwel dog food is made in India by Growel Feeds Private Limited, an Andhra Pradesh company that has produced aquaculture and animal feed since 1994 and launched Carniwel on 12 September 2024. The brand owner, the manufacturer and the packer are one company, which is rare here, and the brand's own two channels disagree about which of its villages houses the plant. Its recipes are stated to be formulated in the USA to AAFCO standards, a claim nothing found substantiates. The 1 kg Fresh Chicken bag runs Rs 421 to Rs 624 depending on seller.

Where it is made

Origin is recorded per product, not per brand, because it varies per product. The evidence column says how strong each row is: a pack in hand outranks a filing, and a marketplace listing is the weakest thing here that is still evidence.

Carniwel Fresh Chicken Adult Dry Dog Food 1 kg (Amazon B0D87KCXPX)India, at Chevuru Village, Eluru District, Andhra PradeshRetailer listing (weak)Manufacturer and Packer contact information both give "GROWEL FEEDS PVT. LTD." at "R.S. no. 57 & 58, Chevuru Village, Sriharipuram Panchayat, Mudinepalli, Eluru District, Andhra Pradesh 521329", with the country of origin as India. This address is identical to the registered office on the brand's own terms page, which is what establishes that owner, manufacturer and packer are one entity.
Carniwel Superfoods Adult Dry Dog Food 1 kg, vegetarian (Amazon B0D8TPYBG2)India, at the same Chevuru addressRetailer listing (weak)The same manufacturer and packer block and the same Chevuru address as the chicken listing, on the vegetarian range. Titled "100% Vegetarian". Confirms that the vegetarian food comes from the same declared site as the meat recipes rather than from a separate facility.
Carniwel, as the brand describes its own manufacturing on LinkedInIndia, at Singarayapalem, which is NOT the village on the packBrand's own siteThe brand's own LinkedIn showcase reads "Manufacturing Singarayapalem, Mudinepalli Mandal, Eluru District, Andhra Pradesh. Formulated in the US by animal nutrition experts. Headquarters Singarayapalem". Singarayapalem and Chevuru are different villages in the same mandal, and the Growel Group's contact page lists both as group addresses. One of the two is where the dog food is made and the brand's two channels do not agree which.
The company and the group behind the brandIndia, with three group addresses in Eluru DistrictBrand's own siteThe terms page names Growel Feeds Private Limited as owner and operator with the Chevuru registered office and a Hyderabad marketing office. The About page states the company "specializes in the manufacturing of high-quality aquatic & animal feeds" and belongs to a group in "aquaculture-feeds, formulation, and seafood processing industry since 1994". The group contact page lists Growel Feeds Pvt. Ltd. and Growel Processors Pvt. Ltd. across Chevuru, Singarayapalem and a third site in Mandavalli Mandal.
The corporate identity of the manufacturerIndia, incorporated in 2008, re-coded on Telangana's formationCompany filingGrowel Feeds Private Limited, CIN U01119TG2008PTC057027, incorporated 7 January 2008, previously U01119AP2008PTC057027, from Ministry of Corporate Affairs derived records. The state code moved from AP to TG when Telangana was carved out of Andhra Pradesh, which is why one company appears under two numbers. The 2008 incorporation sits against the group's claim of operating since 1994, which is consistent with an older group and a newer entity.
Where the recipes are designed, as distinct from where the food is madeUnited States for formulation, India for manufacture, by the brand's own accountBrand's own site"All recipes are scientifically formulated in the USA to meet international nutrition standards (AAFCO) and are carefully manufactured in India for freshness", with collection pages repeating "Expertly formulated in the USA and proudly made in India". No formulator, laboratory, nutrient profile or feeding trial is named, so the design claim is recorded as the brand's statement and the manufacture claim is corroborated by the pack.

What it costs in India

Each row is one seller's listed price for one pack size on one date, converted to a price per kilogram so the pack sizes compare. Indian marketplace pricing moves, so a single listing is not a price and none of these is quoted on its own. 2 rows each show a seller that stocks this product with nothing payable on the day it was read. Such a row is here because it evidences distribution, and it carries no price because a figure you cannot pay is not one.

  • Zigly, Carniwel Fresh Chicken Dry Dog Food, large breed adult, 1 kg. Cheapest of the four priced sellers and 32.5 percent below the brand's own store. Compare-at Rs 468. This seller prices the 3 kg of the same food at Rs 558.95 per kilogram, so three of these 1 kg bags cost Rs 413.84 less than one 3 kg bag.
  • Supertails, Carniwel Fresh Chicken Dry Dog Food, large breed adult, 1 kg. Identical to Amazon's figure to the rupee. Reached via the product handle: this seller's /collections/carniwel URL returns HTTP 404 while its /collections/carniwel-pet-food collection is live, which is why a collection-level pull found nothing.
  • Amazon.in, Carniwel Fresh Chicken Dry Dog Food, large breed adult, 1 kg. ASIN B0D87KCXPX. Amazon prints its own unit price as Rs 54.90 per 100 g, which reconciles exactly with Rs 549.00 per kilogram. The page also shows Rs 521.55, a 5 percent subscribe-and-save figure not used here because it is conditional. This is the listing carrying the Chevuru manufacturer and packer block.
  • carniwel.com (Growel Feeds), Carniwel Fresh Chicken Dry Dog Food, large breed adult, 1 kg. The brand's own price and the dearest of the four, 48.2 percent above Zigly. Compare-at Rs 657. This seller charges the same Rs 624 for the small breed adult 1 kg, so breed size does not change its 1 kg price.
  • Supertails, Carniwel Fresh Chicken Dry Dog Food, large breed adult, 3 kg. Cheapest 3 kg of the three. The same seller's 2 x 3 kg two-pack is Rs 3,540, which is Rs 418 more than two of these bags bought separately, so the multipack costs 13.4 percent more than its own contents.
  • Zigly, Carniwel Fresh Chicken Dry Dog Food, large breed adult, 3 kg. Compare-at Rs 1,863. Dearer per kilogram than this seller's own 1 kg at Rs 421.00, which is the inverted ladder recorded in what is not established. Both sizes were in stock.
  • carniwel.com (Growel Feeds), Carniwel Fresh Chicken Dry Dog Food, large breed adult, 3 kg. Compare-at Rs 1,863, the same maximum retail price Zigly shows, so the difference between them is discounting depth rather than a different product.
  • Zigly, Carniwel Fresh Chicken Dry Dog Food, large breed adult, 10 kg. Cheapest rate per kilogram on this brand's chicken range, and 12.6 percent below the brand's own store. Compare-at Rs 5,409.
  • Supertails, Carniwel Fresh Chicken Dry Dog Food, large breed adult, 10 kg. Up from Rs 3,786 at an August reading, a rise of 21.4 percent, while the brand's own price for this bag did not move. That closed a 26 percent gap between the two sellers to 10.5 percent.
  • carniwel.com (Growel Feeds), Carniwel Fresh Chicken Dry Dog Food, large breed adult, 10 kg. The dearest 10 kg of the three and unchanged since August. Compare-at Rs 5,409. Buying direct costs 10.5 percent more than Supertails and 12.6 percent more than Zigly for the identical bag.
  • Amazon.in, Carniwel with Veg Superfoods Dry Dog Food, large breed adult, 1 kg. ASIN B0D8TPYBG2, titled 100% Vegetarian, with a unit price of Rs 59.90 per 100 g that reconciles exactly. MRP Rs 711. Down from Rs 640 at an August reading. The vegetarian food is priced close to the chicken rather than below it.
  • carniwel.com (Growel Feeds), Carniwel with Veg Superfoods Dry Dog Food, large breed adult, 1 kg. Compare-at Rs 684. The same product's 3 kg is Rs 1,733, or Rs 577.67 per kilogram, and its 10 kg shows Rs 5,856, or Rs 585.60 per kilogram, which would make the largest bag worse value than the middle one. That 10 kg row is out of stock and shares its price with a different formula, so it is treated as a template row.

Recall checks

Each register below was searched for this brand, and then searched again for something comparable to prove it answers at all. A register that returns nothing for both has cleared nothing. India maintains no pet food recall register, so no row here can stand in for one.

RegisterHits for this brandControlWhat a nil result is worth hereChecked

openFDA enforcement API

Nil for the brand and for its maker under both spellings, against controls returning two rows for dog food and one for pet food, so the register answers. Two reasons this nil carries less information than usual, and both must be read with it. First, distribution: this is a United States register and the food is made in Eluru District and sold in India, so it would be listed only if also sold in the United States. Second, age: the brand launched on 12 September 2024, so it has had about two years to accumulate any history at all. Neither fact is about the safety of the food. Coverage limit established 13 October 2026, and it is the main thing to read here: this endpoint does not meaningfully index pet food recalls, so the nil above is a fact about the register's coverage of this product class rather than about the brand. Seven firms with documented pet food recalls return zero rows, among them Mars Petcare's Pedigree wet dog food recall of 2 July 2026, Fromm Family Foods' of 21 August 2026 and Revival Animal Health's of 26 August 2026, all three of which are listed in the US FDA Animal & Veterinary register, while human-food controls on the same endpoint on the same day return 42 rows for one firm and 1,354 for one product category. The "pet food" control row is itself a diced-carrot recall. The Animal & Veterinary row is therefore the check that carries weight on this page, and this row is kept because a register that was queried and found wanting is worth reporting as such.

US FDA Animal & Veterinary recalls

Read this at its scope. The register's keyword search and its data download both returned errors on this date, so only the ten most recent of the 63 entries it reports could be read, and neither brand term appears across those ten. The control is intrinsic: those same ten rows include a Pedigree wet dog food recall, so the register plainly lists dog food by brand. What is established is a nil across ten entries and not across 63. The same two caveats as the openFDA row apply, namely that this is an American register for an Indian-made product and that the brand is two years old.

A fish and shrimp feed company's first pet food brand, two years old

Carniwel belongs to Growel Feeds Private Limited, which the brand's own About page describes as specialising in aquatic and animal feeds, and the brand launched on 12 September 2024.

The company, in its own words. Carniwel's terms page states that "https://carniwel.com/ is owned and operated by Growel Feeds Private Limited, a private limited company having its registered office at R.S. no. 57 & 58, Chevuru Village, Sriharipuram Panchayat, Mudinepalli Mandal, Eluru District, Andhra Pradesh 521329";. Its About page says "Carniwel is a brand owned by Growel Feeds Pvt. Ltd. which specializes in the manufacturing of high-quality aquatic & animal feeds", and that "Growel Feeds is part of the Growel Group, a prominent player in India's aquaculture-feeds, formulation, and seafood processing industry since 1994";.

The corporate record, and why one company carries two numbers. Growel Feeds Private Limited holds CIN U01119TG2008PTC057027 and was incorporated on 7 January 2008. It previously carried U01119AP2008PTC057027: the state code changed from AP to TG when Telangana was carved out of Andhra Pradesh, which is why the same company appears under two CINs in aggregator records. The group's own contact page lists Growel Feeds Pvt. Ltd. and Growel Processors Pvt. Ltd. across three addresses in Eluru District.

The launch date, from the company's own announcement. The brand's blog post "Growel Group enters Pet Food Category with the launch of 'Carniwel'" is dated 12 September 2024, and trade coverage four days later reported that "Growel Group, an Indian seafood processor and aquaculture feed producer, has entered the pet food market";.

Two years of trading is the single most useful fact about this brand and it is the one no listicle mentions. A brand launched in September 2024 has no track record: no years of reformulations to look back on and no accumulated complaint pattern. It also means the nil results from the openFDA food enforcement database and the US FDA animal and veterinary register further down carry less information here than the same nils would on a brand of fifteen years, on top of those registers being American and this food being made and sold in India. A shortlist that places this brand beside one with a decade of Indian sales is comparing unlike things, and that is a statement about the evidence available rather than about the food.

Why an aquafeed parent is the interesting part rather than a worry. A company that already buys marine inputs at scale can put Antarctic krill, algal oil and fish into a dog food on supply grounds that a marketing-led brand cannot match, and krill is exactly what the range leads on. The same fact raises the question the next section takes up, which is which of the group's plants actually runs the dog food.

What the brand owns and what it resells. The brand's own catalogue of 31 products also carries a cooling mat at Rs 2,500, storage containers at Rs 599 and Rs 2,000, treats branded Fullr rather than Carniwel, and two "Carniwel Club" items at Rs 4,500 and Rs 7,459 that carry no pack weight and were out of stock. The Club tier is the subject of its own open question below, because a dog food sold without a stated weight cannot be priced per kilogram.

The pack says Chevuru and the brand's own LinkedIn says Singarayapalem

Carniwel's Amazon listings print Chevuru Village as both manufacturer and packer, while the brand's own LinkedIn showcase names Singarayapalem as its manufacturing site, and both are Growel addresses in the same mandal.

What the pack says. Amazon's listing for the Fresh Chicken Adult 1 kg gives the manufacturer and packer contact information as "GROWEL FEEDS PVT. LTD." at "R.S. no. 57 & 58, Chevuru Village, Sriharipuram Panchayat, Mudinepalli, Eluru District, Andhra Pradesh 521329", with the country of origin as India. That is the same address the terms page gives as the registered office, which is what makes brand owner, manufacturer and packer one entity here.

What the brand's own LinkedIn says. Its showcase page reads "Manufacturing Singarayapalem, Mudinepalli Mandal, Eluru District, Andhra Pradesh. Formulated in the US by animal nutrition experts. Headquarters Singarayapalem". Singarayapalem is a different village from Chevuru, and the group's own contact page lists it as a separate address from the Chevuru one, both in Mudinepalli Mandal and both under postcode 521329.

So the question is which building, not which country. Everything here is Growel, everything is in Eluru District, and the country of origin is India on the pack and in the trade coverage. What a reader cannot determine is whether the dog food comes off the Chevuru line named on the pack or the Singarayapalem line named by the brand itself. A statutory packer address is a legal declaration and a LinkedIn profile is not, so the pack is the better source, and the brand contradicting it on its own channel is the finding.

The reason this matters more than an address usually would is the parent's business. Growel's established lines make aquaculture and animal feed, so the question a reader of "premium", "fresh" and "human-grade" positioning would reasonably ask is whether the dog food runs on dedicated equipment or shares an extruder with fish feed. Sharing equipment is not in itself a problem and is ordinary in feed milling. Nothing read for this page addresses it either way, and with two candidate sites named by the same company the question cannot even be asked of a single address yet.

The formulation is stated to happen elsewhere entirely. The brand's FAQ says recipes are "scientifically formulated in the USA" and "carefully manufactured in India for freshness", and its collection pages repeat "Expertly formulated in the USA and proudly made in India";. So the design and the cooking are separated by the brand's own account, which is unusual for a domestically made food and is the subject of the next section.

The only AAFCO claim in this research, and what it stops short of saying

Carniwel states that its recipes are formulated in the USA to meet AAFCO nutrition standards, which no other brand in this research claims, and it names no profile, no formulator, no laboratory and no feeding trial.

The claim, quoted exactly. The brand's FAQ states: "All recipes are scientifically formulated in the USA to meet international nutrition standards (AAFCO) and are carefully manufactured in India for freshness". The same page refers to "AAFCO standards" and "AAFCO nutritional guidelines" elsewhere, and a product collection page repeats that recipes are "formulated by experts in the USA and proudly made in India to meet international pet nutrition AAFCO standards";.

What AAFCO is, so the claim can be read correctly. The Association of American Feed Control Officials is a United States body that publishes model regulations and nutrient profiles. It is not a regulator, it does not approve or certify foods, and its profiles carry no legal force in India. A product can be substantiated against a profile in two ways, by formulation to the published nutrient levels or by a feeding trial, and the two are very different levels of evidence.

What an AAFCO claim can rest on, and what this one names, read 13 October 2026 Carniwel, Frequently Asked Questions
What would substantiate itNamed by Carniwel

Searched for and absent. The FAQ does not contain the words "feeding trial", nor any nutritionist, laboratory or veterinary nutrition reference, and the phrases "AAFCO feeding trial" and "approved by AAFCO" do not appear on it. Those two absences are reported because they are the two claims the brand has NOT made, and declining to claim AAFCO approval is the accurate choice: no company can claim it, because AAFCO does not grant it.

The brand also describes itself as vet-recommended, and names no vet. The same FAQ calls Carniwel "a vet-recommended pet food brand scientifically formulated in the USA". No veterinarian, qualification or institution appears anywhere on the brand's pages read here. This directory reports such a claim and attributes it rather than passing it on, because a recommendation a reader cannot trace to a named person is not one they can weigh, and the standard is on our how we test page. The same pattern appears on Fidele and in a retailer's listicle entry for Supercoat.

This section is not a mark against the brand. Carniwel is the only brand across this research to name any nutritional standard at all: Kennel Kitchen, Petstar, Fidele and Supercoat name none, and no brand found publishes an IS 11968:2019 conformity claim. What this page records is both halves: the brand discloses a standard, which nobody else here does, and it omits everything that would let a reader check the claim against it.

A 100 percent vegetarian dog food, and the question it raises

Carniwel sells a vegetarian dry dog food across four life stage and breed-size combinations, which its launch materials call a first for an Indian brand, and a vegetarian complete diet for a dog is a decision for a veterinarian rather than a shelf.

The range and the claim. Amazon's listing is titled "Carniwel Superfoods Adult Dry Dog Food 1Kg | 100% Vegetarian", and the brand's own product page says "Carniwel stands among the best premium vegetarian dog food brands in India, offering safe, natural, and nutritionally complete meals"; Google India search for where is carniwel…. Its launch announcement describes the brand as the "First Indian brand to offer a diverse range of vegetarian options and superfood-enriched products, tailored to meet the unique dietary needs of Ind[ian pets]";.

Those are the brand's words and this page does not adopt them. "Nutritionally complete" is the load-bearing phrase, and it is the same claim the AAFCO section found unsubstantiated: no profile, no feeding trial and no analysis is named for any Carniwel recipe, vegetarian or otherwise. The "first Indian brand" claim is a superlative about a market rather than about the food, and nothing read here establishes or refutes it.

Feed your dog a vegetarian diet because a veterinarian who has examined your dog has agreed a plan, not because a product is available. Dogs are omnivores and a carefully formulated meat-free diet can be viable, which is why this page does not tell you the category is unsafe. What it will not do is treat "nutritionally complete" as established when the brand names no profile, no trial and no analysis behind it, because the nutrients most at risk in a meat-free diet for a dog are the ones a label cannot reassure you about. Discuss it with your own vet, and ask specifically what is being used to verify adequacy.

The commercial logic is stated plainly and is worth knowing. The launch materials tie the range to Indian vegetarian households, and that is a real market rather than a nutritional argument. A buyer choosing this range for household reasons is making a reasonable choice for the household and should separate it from the question of whether the diet suits the dog, which only a vet can answer for that animal.

What the vegetarian range costs. The 1 kg Veg with Superfoods for large breed adults is Rs 599 on Amazon and Rs 615 on the brand's own store, and Zigly lists it at Rs 437 but out of stock Carniwel, the brand's own Shopify product… Zigly, the shop's own Shopify product data…. So it is priced close to the chicken range rather than below it, which is worth noting because a meat-free food is often assumed to be cheaper.

One rating exists for it. Amazon's Carniwel store page shows the Superfoods Adult 3 kg at 4.4 out of 5. That is the only numeric customer rating found for any Carniwel product in this research, and the next section explains why there is so little.

The same 1 kg bag costs Rs 421 or Rs 624, and one two-pack costs more than two singles

Carniwel's Fresh Chicken large breed adult 1 kg runs from Rs 421 at Zigly to Rs 624 on the brand's own store, a spread of 48 percent, and the brand's own storefront is the dearest seller at every size.

The five sellers on the 1 kg bag, cheapest first. Zigly Rs 421, Supertails Rs 549, Amazon Rs 549, the brand's own store Rs 624, and BigBasket, which carried the brand when last read and returned HTTP 403 to a direct client today Supertails, Carniwel Fresh Chicken Kibble… Amazon.in, Carniwel Fresh Chicken Adult Dry… Carniwel, the brand's own Shopify product… BigBasket, Carniwel Puppy Dry Dog Food Veg…. Amazon prints its own unit price as Rs 54.90 per 100 g, which reconciles exactly with Rs 549.00 per kilogram.

Carniwel Fresh Chicken, large breed adult, across sizes and sellers, 13 October 2026 Zigly, the shop's own Shopify product data…

2 x 3 kgnot listedRs 3,540, or Rs 590.00/kgnot listed

Read the last row against the 3 kg row. Supertails sells a 3 kg bag at Rs 1,561 and a two-pack of the same bag at Rs 3,540. Two single bags cost Rs 3,122, so the two-pack is Rs 418 dearer than buying its own contents separately, or 13.4 percent. A multipack that costs more than its parts is the sharpest version of a pattern this research keeps finding, after Kennel Kitchen, where one retailer's 45-pack cost more per kilogram than its 30-pack.

Zigly's ladder runs backwards on five product lines. Its Fresh Chicken large breed adult is Rs 421.00 per kilogram at 1 kg and Rs 558.95 at 3 kg, so three 1 kg bags cost Rs 1,263 against Rs 1,676.84 for one 3 kg, a saving of Rs 413.84 or 24.7 percent for the same food. The same inversion appears on its chicken large breed puppy and starter and on two veg lines, while all its lamb lines run the expected direction. Both the 1 kg and the 3 kg were in stock when read.

The brand's own store is the dearest seller at every size, which the research expected and by a smaller margin. On the 10 kg it charges Rs 513.90 per kilogram against Supertails at Rs 459.80 and Zigly at Rs 448.91, so buying direct costs 10.5 percent more than Supertails and 12.6 percent more than Zigly Supertails, Carniwel Fresh Chicken Kibble… Zigly, the shop's own Shopify product data…. An August reading put Supertails at Rs 3,786 for that bag, or Rs 378.60 per kilogram, against the same Rs 5,139 direct. Supertails has since raised it to Rs 4,598, a rise of 21.4 percent, while the brand's own price did not move, so a 26 percent gap has closed to 10.5 percent.

Every rupee figure here was divided by 84.38, 74 and 66.67 to test whether it is a converted dollar list rather than a rupee one. Two quotients land near whole numbers: the Rs 675 starter 1 kg divided by 84.38 is 7.9995, and the Rs 1,733 veg 3 kg divided by 66.67 is 25.9937. Neither is a conversion. This brand's prices are percentage discounts off round rupee maximum retail prices, which is how such figures arrive at near-integer quotients, and 66.67 has never been the rupee to dollar rate. Reporting the quotients and the reason beats reporting a pass.

The 10 kg variants look like placeholders on two different shops, and that is worth a buyer's caution. On the brand's own store the veg large breed adult and the veg large breed starter both show a 10 kg at exactly Rs 5,856 against a Rs 6,507 compare-at price, while their 1 kg and 3 kg prices differ from each other, and both 10 kg rows were out of stock. At Zigly four different cat products share an identical Rs 3,735 10 kg, all out of stock. An identical price across formulas that differ at every other size, combined with no stock, is the signature of a template row rather than a product.

And one own-store ladder is inverted too. The veg large breed adult is Rs 577.67 per kilogram at 3 kg and Rs 585.60 at 10 kg, so the biggest bag is the worst value per kilogram on the brand's own shelf. That is the 10 kg placeholder price again, which is the practical reason to treat it as unreliable rather than as a deal.

Nobody independent has assessed this food

Searching from India for a Carniwel review returns seven results and every one of them is the brand, a shop that sells it, or the brand's own Instagram, which is what two years on the market looks like.

Page one of the review query, in order. The brand's dry dog food collection, an Amazon store page, Supertails' collection, the brand's Instagram account at 18,000 followers, the brand's home page, a second Amazon store page, and an Instagram reel from the brand's own account. Not one independent assessment. Even the testimonial that Google surfaces as the review snippet, "My shihtzu baby loves it!!", sits on carniwel.com itself.

The retailer's answer is the closest thing to a verdict, and it hedges. Supertails' collection page says "Carniwel dog food is generally considered a decent option for many dog owners, as it offers a variety of products designed to meet different dietary needs", and on the origin query it adds that the food "often contains a mix of meat proteins, grains, and vegetables, which can be suitable for most dogs. Still, it's always best to consult with" a professional. A retailer assessing a brand it sells is not independent, and pointing a reader at their vet is the right instinct.

Google's AI Overview answers the origin question in one line and loses the company. It states that "Carniwel dog food is made in India and scientifically formulated in the USA", then repeats a chatbot prompt twice offering to describe the formulas. Both halves of that sentence are accurate and it names neither Growel Feeds, nor either village, nor the contradiction between them. Its summary for the review query lists ingredients in detail, including Antarctic krill, algal oil, spirulina, Beta-glucan, MOS, glucosamine, chondroitin and L-carnitine, and cites no sources at all.

People are searching for a pack size that does not appear to exist. "Carniwel Dog Food 20kg" and "Carniwel Dog Food 20kg price" are returned as related searches on both queries Google India search for carniwel dog food…. No 20 kg pack was found in the brand's own catalogue of 31 products or at any of the four sellers read, where 10 kg is the largest size. Either a 20 kg exists somewhere not read here or searchers are carrying an expectation from another brand, and it is listed in what is not established.

The questions Google reports people asking are mostly not about this brand. Across both keyword sets, one question names Carniwel, "Is Carniwel dog food good or bad?", and the other seven ask for rankings and verdicts or ask about Royal Canin and Farmina. "Carniwel dog food vs Royal Canin" appears as a related search on both. A brand two years old has not yet accumulated a brand-specific question set, which is consistent with everything else on this page.

One physical retailer surfaced, which is worth recording. A shop page for "Carniwel Dog Food in Borivali, Mumbai" lists the Adult Dog Food with Fresh Lamb and Fresh Chicken in 3 kg. Distribution beyond the four online sellers priced here exists and was not systematically mapped.

What Indian law requires of a domestically made dog food

Carniwel is made in India, so the import rules that govern half the brands in this research do not apply, no compulsory nutritional standard applies either, and the AAFCO claim sits outside Indian law entirely.

Pet food is not legally food in India. The Food Safety and Standards Act, 2006 defines food for human consumption and excludes animal feed, so the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India sets no compulsory nutritional standard for dog food. Every nutritional claim on this brand, the AAFCO one included, sits outside a standard an Indian reader can hold it to.

The Indian standard for kibble is voluntary, and this brand points at a different one. IS 11968:2019 is the Bureau of Indian Standards specification for extruded pet food and conformity is not compulsory. No BIS, ISI or IS 11968 reference was found on carniwel.com or on any listing read here. Carniwel is the one brand in this research to state any nutritional standard, and the standard it states is American and voluntary in both countries.

The import regime does not apply and must not be cited against it. The Pet Food Products of Animal Origin (Import into India) Order, 2008 and the Sanitary Import Permit regime govern pet food entering India. A food manufactured in Eluru District does not enter India, so none of that applies, which is a genuine simplification compared with Fidele or Supercoat. The USA appears in this brand's story as the place the recipe was designed, not as a place goods travelled from.

The labelling duty is the one this brand handles best in this research. The Legal Metrology (Packaged Commodities) Rules require a pre-packaged commodity to declare the country of origin where imported, together with the manufacturer, packer or importer, and the net quantity. Both Amazon listings read carry a manufacturer, a packer and the country of origin as India, which is a fuller set than Kennel Kitchen's listings and far fuller than Supercoat's, where no country-of-origin field appears at all.

No FSSAI licence number appears anywhere. Not on carniwel.com and not on any retail listing read here. A manufacturer and marketer of pet food in India would be expected to hold a licence, and nothing found suggests otherwise, so this is a disclosure gap rather than a compliance finding. It is sharper for a domestic manufacturer than for an importer, because the licence would be the manufacturer's own. Across every brand in this research the only licence number found on a pack belongs to Henlo.

The recall history is checkable only against the wrong registers, and the brand is also too young for one. Both checks below are American, and an Indian-made food sold in India would appear in the openFDA food enforcement database or the US FDA animal and veterinary register only if it were also distributed in the United States. No Indian equivalent of either register was located to search instead. On top of that jurisdictional gap, this brand has existed for about two years, so even a correctly scoped nil would carry little information.

What we could not establish

The 14 questions below are the ones this page could not answer, and they are published rather than left out. Each one names what was looked for, where, why it could not be settled, and the test that would show it if the answer were there.

Whether the dog food is made at Chevuru or at Singarayapalem

One address for the plant that the company gives consistently

Looked in: both Amazon listings, which give Chevuru Village as manufacturer and packer, the brand's terms page, which gives Chevuru as the registered office, the brand's own LinkedIn showcase, which gives Singarayapalem as Manufacturing and as Headquarters, the Growel Group contact page, which lists both villages as group addresses in the same mandal

Why it could not be settled: The pack is the better source because a packer declaration carries a legal duty and a LinkedIn profile does not, so this page leads on Chevuru. The brand contradicting its own pack on its own channel means a reader cannot identify the building, and with a parent whose established lines make fish and shrimp feed, the building is the thing a reader would want to pin down. A registered office and a plant can share an address, which is why neither source settles it alone.

What would show otherwise: A plant address on a physical pack, or a single consistent manufacturing address from the company, would settle it.

Whether the dog food runs on dedicated equipment or shares a line with aquafeed

A statement about production lines at either named site

Looked in: the brand's About page, which says the company specialises in manufacturing aquatic and animal feeds and describes no lines, the Growel Group contact page, which gives addresses and no plant descriptions, the trade coverage of the launch, which says manufactured completely in India and no more

Why it could not be settled: Growel's established business is aquaculture and animal feed, so whether the dog food shares an extruder with fish feed is the obvious question and no primary source addresses it. Shared equipment is ordinary in feed milling and is not in itself a problem, which is why this is recorded as unknown rather than as a concern. It is listed because a reader of premium and fresh positioning would reasonably want to know, and because two candidate sites make it impossible even to ask about one address.

What would show otherwise: A plant description, an audit, or a statement from the company about line separation would close it.

What substantiates the AAFCO claim

A nutrient profile, a formulation statement, a feeding trial, a formulator or a laboratory

Looked in: the brand's FAQ, which states recipes are formulated in the USA to meet AAFCO standards and names none of the above, the same FAQ searched for feeding trial, nutritionist and laboratory, none of which appears, the brand's collection and product pages, which repeat the claim without substantiating it, every retail listing read, none of which carries an AAFCO statement of nutritional adequacy

Why it could not be settled: An AAFCO claim can rest on formulation to a published profile or on a feeding trial, and the two are different levels of evidence. The wording used, formulated to meet, points at the first, and even that needs a named profile and a nutrient basis to be checkable. What is established is that the claim is made and that nothing found supports or contradicts it. This is the only AAFCO claim in this research, which makes it worth resolving rather than dismissing.

What would show otherwise: A named AAFCO profile with a formulation or feeding-trial statement, or a laboratory analysis of the finished food, would establish it.

Which veterinarian recommends the brand

A named veterinarian, qualification or institution behind the vet-recommended claim

Looked in: the brand's FAQ, which calls Carniwel a vet-recommended pet food brand and names nobody, the brand's About, terms and product pages, which name no clinical staff, the launch materials, which quote a business head rather than a veterinarian

Why it could not be settled: The claim is an appeal to authority and no person stands behind it publicly. This directory does not publish a vet-recommended claim without naming who made it, so it is reportable as a claim and cannot be passed on. Naming nobody is not evidence that nobody recommends it.

What would show otherwise: A named veterinarian with a stated qualification would make it checkable.

The nutritional adequacy basis for the vegetarian range

A profile, trial or analysis specific to the meat-free recipes

Looked in: the brand's product pages, which call the range nutritionally complete, the FAQ's AAFCO claim, which is made for all recipes and substantiated for none, the Amazon listings, which carry no statement of nutritional adequacy

Why it could not be settled: A meat-free complete diet for a dog is viable when carefully formulated and verified, and verification is exactly what is missing. The claim here is the general AAFCO claim applied to the whole range, with no evidence specific to the recipes where adequacy is hardest to achieve. That is why this page sends the reader to their own vet rather than repeating nutritionally complete as a feature.

What would show otherwise: A nutrient analysis of the vegetarian recipes, or a feeding trial, would establish it.

Whether Carniwel is the first Indian brand to offer a vegetarian range

Evidence for or against the first-Indian-brand claim

Looked in: the brand's own launch announcement, which makes the claim, the trade coverage of the launch, which reports the vegetarian range without repeating the superlative

Why it could not be settled: This is a superlative about a market rather than a statement about the food, and establishing it would require a dated survey of every Indian pet food brand's range, which nothing read here provides. Petstar sells a vegetarian line in this research too, and whether it predates September 2024 was not determined. The claim is recorded as the brand's and is not adopted.

What would show otherwise: A dated market survey, or an earlier Indian vegetarian dog food on sale, would settle it either way.

Why Zigly prices five product lines so that the 3 kg costs more per kilogram than the 1 kg

A reason for the inverted ladder, or a correction

Looked in: Zigly's own product data, where the chicken large breed adult is Rs 421.00 per kilogram at 1 kg and Rs 558.95 at 3 kg, both in stock, the same seller's lamb lines, which all run the expected direction, the brand's own store, where the chicken ladder runs the expected direction

Why it could not be settled: The inversion is established and its cause is not. It is consistent across five lines rather than being one typo, and it is confined to the chicken and veg ranges at one seller. A buyer who notices can save 24.7 percent by buying three 1 kg bags instead of one 3 kg, so the practical advice holds whatever the cause.

What would show otherwise: The listings read again after a repricing, or a statement from the seller, would resolve it.

Why Supertails' two-pack costs more than two single bags

A difference between the two-pack and two separate 3 kg bags

Looked in: Supertails' own variant data, giving 3 kg at Rs 1,561 and 2 x 3 kg at Rs 3,540

Why it could not be settled: Two single bags cost Rs 3,122 and the two-pack costs Rs 3,540, a difference of Rs 418 for what the title says is the same quantity. Nothing on the listing explains it. A multipack priced above its parts is most likely a stale variant rather than a deliberate premium, and either way the advice is the same: add two singles to the basket instead.

What would show otherwise: The listing read again after a repricing would show whether it was stale.

Whether the 10 kg variants priced identically across formulas are real products

Stock, or a distinct price, on any of them

Looked in: the brand's own store, where the veg large breed adult and starter both show 10 kg at exactly Rs 5,856 against Rs 6,507, both out of stock, while their smaller sizes differ, Zigly, where four different cat products share an identical Rs 3,735 at 10 kg, all out of stock

Why it could not be settled: An identical price across formulas that differ at every other size, combined with no stock anywhere, is the signature of a template row rather than a product. It matters because the brand's own 10 kg veg price of Rs 585.60 per kilogram makes its largest bag worse value than its 3 kg, which would be a strange decision and is more likely an artefact. A reader should not plan a purchase around either figure.

What would show otherwise: Any of those variants coming into stock, at a price distinct from its siblings, would establish it.

What the Carniwel Club products are and what they weigh

A pack weight or a description for the two Club items

Looked in: the brand's own catalogue, which lists Carniwel Club Maintenance Formula at Rs 4,500 and Advance Growth at Rs 7,459, both with a Default Title variant, no weight and no stock

Why it could not be settled: A dog food sold without a stated weight cannot be priced per kilogram, so neither item can be compared with anything else on this page or with any other brand. Whether they are large-format bags, subscriptions or bundles is not established. Carniwel Club also appears as a related search on both keyword sets, so readers are looking for it.

What would show otherwise: A pack weight or a product description for either item would make them comparable.

Whether a 20 kg Carniwel pack exists

A 20 kg pack at any seller or in the brand's catalogue

Looked in: the brand's own catalogue of 31 products, where 10 kg is the largest size, Zigly, Supertails and both Amazon listings, where 10 kg is the largest size, Google's related searches on both keyword sets, which return Carniwel Dog Food 20kg and its price

Why it could not be settled: Searchers are asking for a size that nothing read here sells. Either a 20 kg exists in a channel not covered, such as a physical distributor, or searchers are carrying an expectation from brands that do sell 20 kg bags. The distinction matters only because a reader searching for it will find prices for other brands' 20 kg bags and may compare them with this brand's 10 kg rate.

What would show otherwise: A 20 kg pack on sale, or confirmation from the company that none exists, would close it.

Whether any FSSAI licence number appears on a Carniwel pack or listing

A licence number on the brand's site or any retail listing

Looked in: carniwel.com, including its terms, About and FAQ pages and its product data, both Amazon listings read, where the literal FSSAI does not appear, the Zigly and Supertails listings

Why it could not be settled: An Indian manufacturer and marketer of pet food would be expected to hold a licence, and nothing found suggests otherwise. What is established is only that none of the pages read publishes a number, so a reader cannot check it against the regulator's register. This is a sharper gap for a domestic manufacturer than for an importer, because the licence would be the manufacturer's own.

What would show otherwise: A licence number printed on a pack or published by the company would close it.

What any Indian register holds for this brand or its maker

A public Indian pet food recall or enforcement register to search

Looked in: this page's two register checks, which cover the United States only, the Food Safety and Standards Act framework, which excludes animal feed from the definition of food

Why it could not be settled: The food is made in India and sold in India, so it would reach the openFDA food enforcement database or the US FDA animal and veterinary register only through distribution in the United States. No Indian equivalent of either register was located to search instead. That is a limit of the Indian regime rather than a finding about this company, and it compounds the fact that a brand launched in September 2024 has had little time to accumulate any history.

What would show otherwise: An Indian pet food recall or enforcement register, searched with a control that returns rows, would close it.

BigBasket's current prices for the brand

A re-reading of the BigBasket listing that previously carried the range

Looked in: the BigBasket product page for the veg puppy 1 kg, which returned HTTP 403 to a direct client on 13 October 2026

Why it could not be settled: BigBasket carried the vegetarian puppy range at Rs 502.20 for 1 kg and Rs 1,449 for 3 kg when last read, and that page refuses a client today. A page that refuses a client is not a page that has changed, so the seller is counted as carrying the brand and its figures are not used in the price table.

What would show otherwise: The listing read again would give usable figures.

Common questions

Who makes Carniwel dog food?

Growel Feeds Private Limited, CIN U01119TG2008PTC057027, an Andhra Pradesh company incorporated in 2008 and part of a group the brand describes as working in aquaculture feeds and seafood processing since 1994. The brand owner, the manufacturer and the packer are the same company, which only one other brand in this research can say. The brand launched on 12 September 2024.

Where is Carniwel dog food made?

In India, in Eluru District, Andhra Pradesh. Its Amazon listings give Chevuru Village as both manufacturer and packer, with the country of origin as India. The brand's own LinkedIn showcase instead names Singarayapalem, a different village in the same mandal, as its manufacturing site. The pack is the stronger source because a packer declaration carries a legal duty, and which of the two sites makes the food is not established.

Is Carniwel dog food AAFCO approved?

No, and no food can be: AAFCO publishes model regulations and nutrient profiles and does not approve or certify products. Carniwel states that its recipes are "scientifically formulated in the USA to meet international nutrition standards (AAFCO)", which is the only such claim in this research. It names no nutrient profile, no formulator, no laboratory and no feeding trial, and the phrase "approved by AAFCO" does not appear on its pages.

Is Carniwel dog food good or bad?

This page makes no quality judgement and publishes no rating. What it can tell you is that the maker is identifiable from a corporate register, that the brand is about two years old so there is no track record to examine, that no FSSAI licence number appears on any pack or listing read, that the AAFCO claim is unsubstantiated, and that no independent assessment of the food exists: every page-one review result is the brand, a shop that sells it, or its own Instagram.

Is Carniwel vegetarian dog food safe for dogs?

Ask your own veterinarian, because that is a question about your dog rather than about the product. Dogs are omnivores and a carefully formulated meat-free diet can be viable. Carniwel describes its vegetarian range as nutritionally complete, and this page does not treat that as established, because no nutrient profile, feeding trial or analysis is named for any of its recipes. Ask specifically what is being used to verify adequacy.

Where is the cheapest place to buy Carniwel?

Not the brand's own store, which was dearest at every size read. The 1 kg Fresh Chicken large breed adult runs Rs 421 at Zigly, Rs 549 at Supertails and Amazon, and Rs 624 direct. On the 10 kg, Zigly is Rs 448.91 per kilogram against Rs 513.90 direct. Two traps: Supertails' two-pack costs Rs 418 more than two single 3 kg bags, and at Zigly three 1 kg bags cost less than one 3 kg.

Where is Royal Canin dog food manufactured?

That is a different brand, and Google returns the question here because people comparing the two search them together. Our Royal Canin page covers where its Indian stock is made and why that is harder to pin down than it should be. The short answer for this page is that Carniwel is made in Eluru District, Andhra Pradesh, by the company that owns it, which is a simpler arrangement than Royal Canin's.

Which dog food to stay away from?

This directory publishes no avoid-list and no ratings, because a brand-level verdict cannot account for your dog. What it publishes instead is the checkable material: whether the maker is identifiable, whether a licence number appears on the pack, whether any nutritional standard is claimed and what stands behind it, and what the food costs per kilogram. On this brand the maker is identifiable, the AAFCO claim is unsubstantiated, and no FSSAI number appears.

Has Carniwel dog food been recalled?

No openFDA food enforcement report matches carniwel, growel or growel feeds, checked on 13 October 2026 against controls that returned two rows for dog food and one for pet food. The ten most recent entries readable on the US FDA animal and veterinary register also hold none. Both registers are American and this food is made and sold in India, and the brand is only two years old, so neither result is reassurance.
